Are you ready for the future?

I have attended several sessions and career empowerment forums that aim at propelling the Kenyan youths on how to take the next steps when launching their career. All this forums have been informing and insightful but lack the core skills on how to go about when you want to unleash your potential.

One of the most important skills when venturing into the competitive world is financial management. When an entrepreneur lacks information on how to handle his/her finances, how to write and organize a personal budget using spreadsheet, the venture is likely to be eaten by the wolves. However, this is not the only thing to know as there exists other vital skills to be successful in both creating opportunities and solving problems at your area of interest.

Empowerment is a crucial and ideal way of setting the youths on the move but only if they will be empowered with the 21st Century Skills, a strong Network Connection of Employers and Companies, Character and morals development and effective communication skills. This will eventually develop the young people’s aura of transforming into ethical and entrepreneurial leaders with the skills to solve real world problems.

For the effective achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the youth must be equipped with important information on the future of the planet and how to create opportunities rather than looking for opportunities. Symposiums and International forums are an informative and triggering exercise but an informed mind that lacks skills is equal to a dead end. Start from the unknown slowly discovering your vision, interests, strengths and weaknesses and by the end of the day you will have started moving to the known.

The 2019 Symposium on realization of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals is set to happen in Malaysia and I’m so excited to inform you that I will be part of the forum discussing Growth in the economic sector and access to decent jobs in the market. But on the last quarter of 2018, let’s explore our young people’s ability to change the continent by creating opportunities and solving the challenges affecting it.
